A lot of school websites say "international curriculum" or "global standards." Almost none of them mean the International Baccalaureate. The two get confused constantly, which is a problem if IB is specifically what a family is looking for.
Here is the actual distinction, and where things stand in Panipat.
"IB" is a status, not an adjective
A school cannot call itself an IB World School by choice. The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), headquartered in Geneva, authorises schools individually after evaluating their curriculum design, teacher training, assessment practices and facilities against its own published standards. That process is documented and takes time - it is not a purchased licence or a branding decision. A school that says its curriculum is "IB-inspired" or "international" without naming an actual authorised programme is making a different, unregulated claim.
Infinia World School, in Sector 39, TDI City, Panipat, holds that authorisation: it teaches the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), from Early Years through Grade 8, and is the only IB World School within roughly 100 km of Panipat.
What the PYP and MYP actually look like day to day
The PYP (Early Years to Grade 5) and MYP (Grades 6-8) are organised around transdisciplinary units built on a central idea and driven by inquiry, rather than a fixed sequence of single-subject chapters. A unit on, say, how systems shape a community pulls in mathematics, language, science and civics around one real question, instead of teaching those subjects as four separate periods. Assessment leans on portfolios, presentations and reflective work alongside tests, because the programme is measuring how a child thinks, researches and communicates - the skills that carry furthest beyond school, and the reason IB graduates are consistently sought after by universities worldwide.
IB and CBSE, not IB or CBSE
A common misconception is that a school has to choose one board. It does not. Infinia holds CBSE affiliation (Affiliation No. 532186, School Code 42224) alongside its IB World School authorisation, running both curricula together rather than treating them as alternatives. That combination matters for families who want the inquiry-driven IB approach without stepping outside the CBSE ecosystem most of extended family and local peer schools recognise.
Ask any school claiming an international curriculum one direct question: which programme, and can I see the authorisation? A real IB World School will have a clear, specific answer.
What to actually verify, not just ask
The IBO publishes a public directory of authorised IB World Schools searchable by name and location. It is worth checking any school's claim there directly rather than relying on a website's own wording, the same way a CBSE affiliation number can be checked against the board's own records. A genuine authorisation will show up; a marketing phrase will not.
